Locked On Pacers: What will the Indiana Pacers do with their open roster spot?

The Indiana Pacers have an open roster spot after buying out Daniel Theis yesterday. What will they do with that spot?

I went on the Locked On Pacers podcast with Tony East to discuss just that.

Topics include:

  • The Daniel Theis Era: memories or lack thereof, why the Pacers went ahead and bought the FIBA world champion out now instead of later in the season
  • What will the Pacers do with the open roster spot? Reunite with an old friend? Lots of former Pacers that make some sense available as free agents (shout-out to TJ Warren who I forgot to mention in this segment). Why converting a 2-way player like Oscar Tshiebwe doesn’t make sense to do immediately.
  • We finish the episode by gushing about Tyrese Haliburton and the absolutely insane statistics that he’s putting up.

  1. Theis is a 13, 14, 15 player on any good team. Sure, it must be frustrating, but he just isn’t as good as the people in front of him, especially for the style that the Pacers are playing now. I’m glad he is going somewhere he might be able to get a little PT. But I’m especially happy that the Pacers have so many better options.
