The Indiana Pacers made only 3 of their 30 attempts from 3-point range. Unsurprisingly, this made it very difficult to beat the New York Knicks as they dominated on their way to a 25-point win in their home opener.
Tyrese Haliburton went scoreless. Andrew Nembhard scored just two points. 16 turnovers were turned into 29 Knicks points while the Pacers only mustered 13 points from their opponent’s 12 turnovers. It was a rough night to say the least.
But if the cost of the Pacer setting a FG% record in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in this same arena just five months ago while missing basically zero shots is that in this regular season game the Pacers were going to make basically zero shots, I have two words for you: WORTH IT.
This game sucked. The Pacers will have to respond but there’s no reason to overreact after one bad game. You may remember the Pacers losing by 50 last year to the Celtics in the fourth game of the season. Haliburton also scored 0 points in that game. Okay, yes, he was injured but you get the idea. It’s a long season. The Pacers are unlikely to have that bad of a shooting night again all year and they managed to keep things close for a decent chunk of this game before everything fell apart completely and they threw in the towel. Upon reflection, some of these grades need a level down or two but really outside of the outside shooting as a team, only a few players truly had very bad games in this one.
