Woj: Indiana Pacers expected to target RFA Aaron Gordon

With the Pacers expected to have around $20 million or more in cap space, they have plenty of options to target in free agency.

One of those players is Orlando Magic restricted free agent Aaron Gordon according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Any offer the Pacers would make Gordon would be able to be matched by the Magic if they chose to do so.

This could be a sign that either the Pacers expect Thad Young to decline his player option or they want him to in order to make room for Gordon in the starting lineup. It all depends on where the information is coming from.

It’s also possible that Gordon’s agent is leaking this information in order to pressure the Magic to offer more money when free agency opens on 7/1.

Gordon averaged 17.9 points, 7.9 rebounds while shooting a career-high 34% from 3-point territory last season.

Gordon played with Victor Oladipo on the Magic, so it could be possible he’d be interested in a reunion with his former teammate.

Gordon has said that he’d prefer to remain in Orlando but is looking for the best contract offer.
