The Pacers are rumored to be interested in a pair of big men in the free agent market: Taj Gibson and Willie Reed.
The Pacers interest in bigs is peculiar given the current logjam of power forwards and centers currently on the roster: Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young, TJ Leaf, Domantas Sabonis, Al Jefferson, Rakeem Christmas, Ike Anigbogu, Georges Niang, Kevin Seraphin and Ben Moore.
The Pacers interest may not become serious unless they are able to move some of their other bigs in a trade.
Reed, 27, would be a good young-ish guy to give an opportunity too if the roster wasn’t stuffed with guys that play his position. He’s one of the iPacers free agents to target for the rebuild.
Gibson spent the last half of the season with the Oklahoma City Thunder after being traded from the Chicago Bulls. Reed spent one season with the Miami Heat, playing well in limited starting opportunities.
