First-time All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton will be competing in the NBA’s 3-point contest with teammate Buddy Hield according to Shams Charania, who reported it today on the Pat McAfee Show.
Haliburton is shooting 39.2% on over seven attempts per game from deep. He set a franchise-record for 3-pointers in a game with 10 during his career-high 43-point performance.
Hield is shooting at near career-best levels at 43% from deep on 8.9 attempts per game. He’s already got the second most 3-pointers in a season for an Indiana Pacers player and will likely pass Reggie Miller’s record before the end of February. Perhaps we can look forward to Hield playfully flipping the bird to Haliburton if his teammate beats him.

The shooting duo is not the only pair of teammates in the 3-point contest as Charania also reported that Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons will also compete in it during All-Star weekend in Salt Lake City.
Other Pacers participating during the All-Star festivities include the pair of rookies Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard, who were both drafted to the same team in the Rising Stars event. They’ll play with fellow rookies Paolo Banchero, Jaden Ivey, and Keegan Murray among others.

It should be a fun weekend for Pacers fans next week with Haliburton in the main event to end the week with his first All-Star appearance. Maybe he’ll even be drafted into the same team as Domantas Sabonis for a fun side plot.
