UPDATE: FULL VERSION AVAILABLE HERE
Late in game four, Solomon Hill gave a shout out to Raptors’ fan/ambassador/celebrity, Drake, after hitting a 3-pointer with the hotline bling hands (No idea what I should actually call those). Matt Kryger of Indy Star captured this picture that inspired this silly tweet on the iPacers twitter account:
So, I couldn’t let well enough alone and in honor Hill’s improved play throughout the season, I present an original (perhaps terrible) parody lyric, entitled “Solo Bling.”
If you’re not familiar with the original, Drake’s Hotline Bling. I suggest watching it first.
🎶Solo Bling🎶
You used to keep me on the
You used to, you used to
Yeah
You used to keep me on the bench, Vo.
I’d only play in blowout games.
But now they all love Solo
Because I can do everything
And I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
Ever since the summer league
I wasn’t in the rotation as a wing now
Everybody played and I felt left out
But GR3 too young, and where is Chase now?
‘Cause ever since the All-Star break,
I’ve guarded stretch fours and I play more
Passes of the rock out to Paul George
Making some shots I rarely made before
You used to keep me on the bench, Vo.
I’d only play in blowout games.
But now they all love Solo
Because I can do everything
And I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
These days all I do is
Run around the court chasing stretch fours like no one else
Wonder if you waived my team option for someone else
Am I doing things you taught me next year for someone else?
You don’t need no one else
You don’t need nobody else, no
Don’t you let me go
Hold on to Solo
Banker’s Life is my home, I’m a good player
I’ll be in the zone, yeah
No one’s Solo but myself
You can’t find someone else
You used to keep me on the bench, Vo.
I’d only play in blowout games.
But now they all love Solo
Because I can do everything
And I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
I know when that Solo bling
That can only mean one thing
PS: If you hated this, you’re not the only one:
So, what did you think? Do I need to lay down this track in the studio? Or should as I retire from the internet forever since no one will ever forgive me for this travesty?
