Lakers deal on the table?
You text Rob Pelinka this video of LeBron sitting dejected on the bench in a recent blowout loss, following it up with, “Want to fix this yet?”
Rob texts you back. “This man loves throwing me under the bus. We both know he wanted Russ in the first place.”
“Let it out. Let it out,” you write back.
“It’s not like I haven’t tried to make upgrades. The Bulls won’t give up on LaVine for these 2 picks. The Wizards want to stay mediocre forever with Beal leading the way. What the hell am I supposed to do?
“Shit, I should have not sent all that,” Rob replies
“You know you can unsend messages on iPhone now. I’ll pretend I never read that.”
“Haha very funny.”
“We doing this or not? Both picks for both players. LeBron is still at his peak; I’d be helping you way more than I would like to be with this deal.”
“I don’t know. Thomas Bryant’s been pretty good and we need Anthony Davis to play more center to be at our best.”
“You also need him to stay healthy so you can make it to the playoffs.”
“What the hell. Not like those picks will be any good, we’ll just sign whatever superstar free agent wants to come to LA next.”
The trade:
- Pacers receive: Russell Westbrook (who you will waive), 2027 and 2029 first-round picks unprotected
- Lakers receive: Myles Turner and Buddy Hield
